School moments

Why does high school have such a large affect on a person? I know that over the years I have dreamt about being back ay my co-ed boarding school so many times it gets ridiculous. When I make a new friend on facebook and see their photos I inevitably head towards the high school years and try to remember what was happening. But those 3-4 years seem so much clearer than other years that follow. Why is this so? Have I not made any friends since high school? I have moved states numerous times, had the same employervfor 23 years and was in the army reserve for 17 years. But I still eagerly await to make friends with some one I knew, but usually was not friends with, as they come into the facebook sphere of influence. When does high school become cool again?

A moment in the Green

Two sheds, two cats and one little boy

The following story covers from about May 2009 to July 2010. The lead up to this tale is that my wife Nicole and I finally bought a house in November of 2007. I always wanted a garden to produce some fresh vegetables and have always had some pots around with herbs, chillies and the occasional vegetable. funnily enough it was Nicole or rather her lack of green thumb that got me into gardening.

It was around July 2002 and we were living in Calder rd in Darlington NSW and Nicole come home with a self watering pot a bag of dirt and some herbs. She planted them and left them out the back of our terrace and promptly forgot about them. I was a smoker at that stage and would go outside for a cigarette and noticed that these herbs were not doing so well so I would occasionally throw a cup of water on them.

When we moved to Melbourne in December 2002 and we were packing up the house Nicole found her herbs and was amazed that they were still alive! I managed to keep them alive for the next few years and when we moved into our house in Nov 2007 chives and oregano form that self watering pot were the first to go in to the ground. Unfortunately the chives have since become compost but the oregano lives on.

The tense and telling of this story change as time goes on.......
